When I started out as a photographer I had so many things running through my head at warp speed…what gear to buy next, what conference to attend, what books and blogs to read. I have learned a lot the past few years but I have to say that one thing that changed my images was when I finally started ‘looking for the light.’

I feel like I am finally getting comfortable with posing clients to make them look natural and I am confident in finding great backgrounds that hold texture and give a overall feeling to the images outcome, but looking for the light to give an image that sparkle… that was something that came last for some reason. Maybe it is because I live in Oregon and nice sunlight only comes to this state for like 60 days a year! But none the less… I am glad I am starting to place my clients in the correct light. I think it makes all the difference!

In the above photo are Alese and Matt, they graciously modeled the other day for our Click Chicks shoot! Thanks again you two, it was great to meet such a fun couple!

Bonnie and Waylon have such inviting personalities and happy attitudes! I have known Bonnie for some time now but this was one of the first times I really got to hang out with Waylon. He and I bonded quite early over our love for hamburgers and decided where we were going to go to dinner before we even started shooting!

Bonnie and Waylon met while working together one summer but didn’t connect again for a few years after. When Bonnie saw Waylon in the crowd at the Oregon Jamboree she just new she had to talk to him. With a little help from some friends she got the courage to go up to him. He immediately asked for her number and a first date was set up. Bonnie said that early on she knew her and Waylon were each others “one” and Waylon said that he knew right away because he didn’t want to take her to a movie, which was a good thing… you see when Waylon took a lady to dinner and didn’t really feel a connection he would take her to a movie to finish the date, that way he didn’t have to come up with more conversation… smooth, right, haha!! Well, with Bonnie, Waylon didn’t want to go to a movie one bit, they walked around the park after dinner and chatted for hours.

Michelle and I had a great time hanging out with you too for your engagement session and dinner after was awesome! We can not wait for your wedding in August!
